West Ham United will step out in the 2024/25 Cockney Kit for the first time in Saturday's London derby at Brentford and Mohammed Kudus cannot wait to show it off at Gtech Community Stadium.
Kudus played a prominent role in the Kit's launch ahead of the new campaign, heading down to Clapton's Accra Palace restaurant for a photoshoot showcasing east London's links with his native Ghanaian community.
The Hammers' No14 has felt the deep love of his fellow countrymen in his new home city since heading to London from Ajax and Amsterdam little over a year ago, so he was thrilled to spend time with them to highlight the new colours.
Now, with the team set to wear them at Brentford as they aim for a third undefeated away London derby of the campaign, Kudus is ready to kickstart the Irons' campaign.
“I enjoyed being involved in the kit launch a lot, especially having an Away Kit around the Ghana community in the restaurant, as there was a lot of people I can relate to," said Kudus.
"I love the Kits and they give me nice vibes and good energy. It’s always special to represent the Club in ways like that.
“I had heard about the restaurant [Clapton’s Accra Palace] but had never been before and that was my first time, but I got a really good impression. The food was nice and the people were nice, which I wasn’t surprised about because that is how most Ghanaian people are. It’s what I expected.
“I didn’t know how big [the Ghanaian community] was until I got there, but it’s good to know there are a lot of my people around.
"The welcome I’ve had has been great and the fans have received me very well, and so have the team, so it’s been good for settling in for the first time."
Kudus notched 14 goals in a hugely successful debut season with the Irons in 2023/24, so he would love nothing more than to open his account for the new campaign in the Cockney Kit at Brentford.
After a win at Crystal Palace and draw at Fulham in our previous two away outings this term, the winger is confident the team can add to the tally in the west of the capital.
He added: “My favourite kit is the away one, but the home kit is the traditional West Ham jersey. I like the design, colour and everything else about it.
“I can’t wait [to wear it] and dance a little bit in it!"
