West Ham United can confirm that young defender Michael Forbes has joined EFL League Two side Colchester United on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old Northern Ireland international spent the first half of the campaign with Bristol Rovers in League One, making 12 appearances in all competitions. After suffering a hamstring injury in their 1-1 draw with Wrexham in December, it was mutually agreed that Forbes would return to Rush Green to continue his rehabilitation with the Club’s medical team.
Now approaching full fitness, Forbes will continue his development at Colchester United under the guidance of head coach Danny Cowley.
After almost dropping out of the Football League last season for the first time since 1992, Colchester are enjoying a much-improved season, currently sitting mid-table in League Two, ten points outside the play-offs with 19 games still to play.
