Dinos Mavropanos is set to face England at Wembley Stadium after being named in Greece’s squad for two UEFA Nations League ties to be played in October.
Greece and England will bring perfect records to the Home of Football for their League B Group 2 showdown on Thursday 10 October at 7.45pm BST, having both beaten Finland and the Republic of Ireland in their opening two matches. The game will be broadcast live in the UK on ITV1 and ITVX.
Mavropanos and Greece have been in superb form so far, defeating Finland 3-0 on home turf at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, before travelling to Dublin and overcoming Republic of Ireland 2-0 at the Aviva Stadium during the September international break.
The West Ham defender has been in imperious form himself, forging a strong partnership with VfL Wolfsburg centre-back Konstantinos Koulierakis at the heart of the Greek defence.
Now, though, they will be tested by England, who have also won both ties to date, winning 2-0 in Dublin before defeating the Finns by the same scoreline in London in September.
Following their meeting with the Three Lions, Greece will return to Piraeus, where West Ham were beaten by Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League group stage last season, to host Ireland on Sunday 13 October at 9.45pm local time (7.45pm BST).
Mavropanos has been a regular starter for Greece in recent seasons and has made a fine start to the tenure of new manager Ivan Jovanović after the Serbian took charge in August this year.
The 26-year-old has 29 caps and two goals to his name since debuting in a friendly against Honduras in March 2021.
