West Ham United women's team lost 2-0 to Chelsea in their Subway® Women’s League Cup semi-final clash on Wednesday evening
After defending resolutely throughout the opening 20 minutes at Kingsmeadow, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd found the net for the home side the lead in the cup contest.
The Blues added a second under ten minutes later when Sjoeke Nüsken was able to pounce on a mistake at the back and round Kinga Szemik.
Rehanne Skinner's side produced a spirted response in the second half, moving the ball with confidence in stages and went close through efforts from Viviane Asseyi and Camila Sáez.
However, they were unable to find a goal that their second half efforts arguably merited, as Sonia Bompastor's Chelsea advanced into the final of the competition
