Matchday Gallery | Women’s team beaten by Paris Saint-Germain Down Under

West Ham United women’s team battled well but were ultimately beaten 1-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in their opening match of the Perth International Football Cup at HBF Park.

The Hammers arrived Down Under on Sunday evening and are competing in a four-team event, with a second fixture against Leicester City now up next in the tournament third-place play-off on Sunday 1 September.

Katrina Gorry and Riko Ueki started for West Ham after linking up with the side in the wake of their outings at the Paris Olympics with Australia and Japan, while new signings Kinga Szemik, Shelina Zadorsky and Camila Sáez were all in the XI.

After 23 minutes, the Irons fell behind after Jennifer Echegini played in Romée Leuchter, who made no mistake and fired beyond Szemik to make it 1-0.

Viviane Asseyi went close just before half-time, but couldn't steer her header on target.
