West Ham United returned to Premier League action on Sunday with a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at London Stadium.
The Hammers struck first when, with 29 minutes on the clock, Vladimír Coufal curled over a peach of a cross from the right and Michail Antonio threw himself at the ball to head home.
The hosts thought they had a second three minutes into the second half when Antonio knocked home a viciously inswinging Jarrod Bowen corner, but VAR ruled the goal out for handball against the No9.
Villa upped their intensity following their let-off and drew level with eleven minutes to play through Nicolò Zaniolo's close-range finish.
The Irons had the ball in the net again in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time, when the ball was bundled over the line from a James Ward-Prowse free-kick, but, after being called for a review by VAR, referee Jarred Gillet disallowed it for a handball by Tomáš Souček.
