Matchday Gallery | Hammers denied in stoppage time at Sheffield United

West Ham United returned to Premier League action with a dramatic 2-2 draw at Sheffield United on Sunday.

Maxwel Cornet fired the Hammers into a 28th minute lead, lashing home on the volley after Danny Ings' shot was half-blocked.

However, the Blades levelled before the break, as Ben Brereton Díaz latched onto a loose ball inside the box to thunder in a close-range equaliser.

The Hammers came again in the second half, and after Danny Ings was fouled in the box by Gustavo Hamer eleven minutes from time, James Ward-Prowse fired home from the spot.

But, then, deep into stoppage time, Alphonse Areola was adjudged to have fouled Oli McBurnie, and the Scot picked himself up to equalise again from the spot.
