West Ham United exited the Carabao Cup at the third-round stage at the hands of Liverpool, with the hosts coming from behind to claim a 5-1 win at Anfield.
Things started brightly for Julen Lopetegui's Hammers when home defender Jarell Quansah bundled into his own net shortly after the 20-minute mark, making it 1-0 to the visitors.
Liverpool duly responded four minutes later through Diogo Jota's header however, and the Portuguese forward then grabbed his and his side's second of the night shortly after half-time, coolly finishing past Łukasz Fabiański.
Substitute Mohamed Salah made it 3-1 before Edson Álvarez was sent-off for the second of two bookable offences, and then Cody Gakpo scored twice in quick succession late on to put gloss on the scoreline and bring the Irons' cup journey to an end.
