West Ham United kicked-off their 2023/24 Carabao Cup campaign with a 1-0 third-round win away to Lincoln City on Wednesday evening.
David Moyes’ side were made to work hard by their EFL League One hosts, who went close on a number of occasions on a stormy night in the East of England.
The game was goalless at half-time, with both goalkeepers making important saves to keep their respective teams on level terms.
Tomáš Souček then broke the deadlock with a near-post finish from Saïd Benrahma’s corner on 70 minutes, and that proved to be the winning goal that took the Irons through to the fourth round.
