Latvian referee Andris Treimanis

Match Officials confirmed for Olympiacos and Everton games

The match officials have been appointed for both our UEFA Europa League Group A game at Olympiacos and Premier League clash with Everton in the coming week.

First, on Thursday, Latvia’s Andris Treimanis will take charge of the Hammers’ trip to Pireaus to take on Super League Greece side Olympiacos.

The 38-year-old has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2011, meaning that alongside domestic Latvian games, he also possesses a wealth of experience refereeing European club fixtures and full internationals.

This term he has taken charge of three UEFA fixtures – a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier between Hearts and PAOK, a Champions League qualifier between Slovan Bratislava and Maccabi Haifa, and Roma’s Europa League group stage victory at Sheriff Tiraspol.

In the latter game he issued five yellow cards and one red – his only dismissal in European competition so far this term.

He last took charge of an English team’s game in October 2020, when Manchester City defeated Porto 3-1 in a Champions League group fixture.

On Thursday he will be assisted by fellow Latvians Haralds Gudermanis and Aleksejs Spasennikovs. The VAR will be Dutchman Dennis Higler, who was the assistant VAR for our matchday one victory over FK TSC at London Stadium.

Stuart Attwell

Meanwhile, Stuart Attwell has been named as the referee for our home Premier League meeting with Everton on Sunday.

Attwell began refereeing seriously following his graduation from Stafford University and worked his way up through the West Midlands League and National League before joining the Football League list of referees in 2007.

Attwell was fast-tracked, becoming the youngest-ever referee to control a Premier League fixture when he officiated Blackburn Rovers’ 1-1 draw with Hull City on 23 August 2008, and being added to the FIFA List later the same year at the age of just 26.

In 2010, Attwell officiated in the Japanese J. League as part of a referee exchange programme, and he has since refereed matches in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League, Premier League, EFL and UEFA age-group tournaments.

Overall, the 41-year-old has refereed West Ham United 20 times in total since April 2008, including the corresponding fixture last season, which David Moyes’ side won 2-0.
