David Coote has been confirmed as the referee for Sunday's Premier League match at home to Manchester United.
Affiliated to the Nottinghamshire FA, Coote began refereeing at the age of 16 and worked his way up through the Notts Alliance League, Northern Counties East Football League, the Northern Premier League and the Conference North.
He was promoted to the Football League List of assistant referees in 2006, and again to the referees’ list in 2010. Coote refereed the 2014 League One Play-Off final at Wembley, which saw Rotherham United defeat Leyton Orient. The Nottinghamshire official also oversaw the 2023 Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium between Manchester United and Newcastle United, with Erik ten Hag’s side defeating the Magpies 2-0 in the showpiece.
The official, whose father played cricket for Nottinghamshire, was appointed to the Select Group of Premier League officials in the summer of 2018.
He will take charge of a Hammers match for the first time this season on Sunday, and last refereed a West Ham fixture when we were defeated 4-1 away at Aston Villa in October 2023.
In the 16 Premier League fixtures Coote officiated last season, he brandished a total of 84 yellow cards and three reds, sending off two players during Brentford's 2-1 home defeat against Aston Villa in December.
Dan Robathan and Craig Taylor will serve as the assistant referees at London Stadium.
Robathan was an assistant referee at a West Ham United Premier League match three times last season. He ran the line at Vitality Stadium in the 1-1 opening day draw with AFC Bournemouth and the home victory and draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. The experienced official has worked in the Premier League since 2018.
Taylor, meanwhile, was promoted to Select Group One ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, having run the line in more than 200 matches over the past four years, including his Premier League debut when Tottenham Hotspur faced Brentford on 31 January 2024.
He assisted in two further top-flight matches last season: Burnley v AFC Bournemouth on 3 March and Crystal Palace against Aston Villa on 19 May.
Taylor has performed assistant referee duties at five Premier League matches so far this campaign.
Tom Bramall will work as the fourth official on Sunday.
Bramall, who has been a Premier League-level referee since 2022 was the main official for West Ham’s 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in February, where he showed nine yellow cards, including sending off Kalvin Phillips.
Video Assistant Referee duties are set to be overseen by Michael Oliver. One of the Premier League’s most experienced officials, Oliver has been a part of the Select Group of Referees since 2010 and has officiated seven Premier League games so far this campaign, including West Ham’s home defeat to Manchester City in August.
