Simon Hooper has been named as the referee for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth round clash with Arsenal.
Born in Swindon, the 41-year-old began refereeing in The Football League in 2008 and took charge of his first Premier League match in August 2015; a 3-1 win for Crystal Palace at Norwich City.
Promoted to the Select Group of Referees in 2018, he refereed 29 Premier League matches last season and has been in charge of five in the top flight so far this campaign, most recently refereeing Brentford’s 2-0 win at Chelsea on Saturday.
Hooper’s most recent West Ham fixture was the final match of the 2022/23 Premier League season, where Moyes’ Hammers were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. This is his first visit to London Stadium as the referee since a 2-0 win over Norwich City for West Ham in January 2022.
Hooper is assisted in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash by Darren Cann and Sam Lewis.
A former young professional with Crystal Palace and Norwich City, Cann began refereeing in 1991 and has worked in the Premier League since 2005. He holds the distinct honour of running the line in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, the 2010 UEFA Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, and the 2006 FA Cup final between West Ham United and Liverpool.
Lewis, meanwhile, has been a regular assistant referee in the EFL since the 2018/19 season, working in 14 Championship matches this campaign. He has also run the line in two Premier League matches, both coming last season.
Samuel Barrott will take fourth official duties at London Stadium. Promoted to the National List of Referees at the end of the 2019/20 season, and took charge of the 2022 FA Vase Final between Littlehampton Town and Newport Pagnell Town.

Thomas Bramall has been named as the referee for West Ham United's Premier League visit to Brentford on Saturday.
Bramall has been a professional referee since the 2018/19 season and was promoted to Select Group One in 2022, taking charge of his first Premier League match in August 2022; Fulham's home match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He has since officiated ten Premier League fixtures, including Liverpool's 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth in August and Newcastle's 2-0 home victory against Burnley in September, and was the fourth official for the Hammers' trip to Aston Villa two weeks ago.
Bramall also took charge of the 2022 FA Trophy final between Wrexham and Bromley, which Bromley won 1-0.
Bramall will be assisted by Simon Bennett and Mark Scholes on Saturday.
Bennett, a 38-year-old assistant referee from Staffordshire, is an experienced linesman who worked at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He is also a regular for UEFA, assisting in Champions League and European fixtures, and has worked across ten Premier League matches so far this campaign.
Scholes, meanwhile, will be an assistant referee at a West Ham United Premier League match for the third time this season. Scholes also ran the line at London Stadium in the 2-0 win over Sheffield United and the loss away to Aston Villa. The experienced official has worked in the Premier League since the 2008/09 campaign.
John Busby will work Saturday's match as the fourth official while Video Assistant Referee duties will be overseen by Michael Salisbury.
