West Ham United women's team forward Shekiera Martinez has been nominated for March's Barclays Women's Super League Player of the Month award.
The Germany youth international, who is currently away representing her country, has made a huge impact for the Hammers since returning from her loan at SC Freiburg in January, and she showed her true potential last month in her four WSL appearances.
First, she notched her third goal in Claret and Blue in the narrow 4-3 defeat away at Arsenal, completing 74 minutes of the tight contest at Meadow Park before then helping her side to a valiant 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City and an impressive 2-0 home win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Arguably her most eye-catching display of March came last time out away at WSL leaders Chelsea, where she scored two goals to inspire West Ham to a 2-2 draw, having been 2-0 down after 21 minutes, with her all-important equaliser arriving in second-half stoppage time.
Indeed, she ended March with three goals in four games, while overall she now boasts five goals in eight league appearances for the Irons.
Martinez has been shortlisted for the Player of the Month prize alongside Chelsea's Aggie Beever-Jones, Arsenal duo Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo, Manchester United's Leah Galton and Maya Le Tissier, and Vivianne Miedema of Manchester City.

Polling closes at 11am BST on Monday 7 April, with the winner being announced on Thursday 10 April.
