West Ham United women’s team are back on the road this weekend as they prepare to face Manchester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Rehanne Skinner’s charges have momentum on their side after two home matches which yielded a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in league action and a 6-1 thrashing of Portsmouth on Wednesday in the Women’s League Cup.
City meanwhile have title aspirations this term after last season’s second-place finish in the top-flight standings.

The nearest train station to Joie Stadium is Manchester Piccadilly - a short taxi journey or a 30-minute walk along a well-lit and signposted route from the city centre.
A Metrolink runs from the city centre, including Manchester Piccadilly station, to the Velopark stop and on towards Ashton. The journey time from Piccadilly Station takes approximately 12 minutes.
Supporters are advised that no parking is available at Joie Stadium, while a local resident parking scheme is in place and is strictly enforced and identifiable through on-street signs. Vehicles parked in this area without the appropriate identification are at risk of being fined, clamped or even removed.

Manchester City are hoping to be the side that will put an end to Chelsea's recent dominance in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Gareth Taylor's team missed out on their first title since 2016 on goal difference last season as they finished level on 55 points with Emma Hayes' Blues. Indeed, the Citizens finished the campaign without a trophy, after going out in the quarter-finals of the Adobe Women's FA Cup and the semi-finals of the Women's League Cup.
City were active in the transfer window during the summer, adding quality in a number of different areas, while some stalwarts departed as Taylor shaped his squad to challenge on all fronts. The biggest signing came in the shape of WSL record goalscorer Vivianne Miedema, who left rivals Arsenal on a free transfer.
Japanese trio Aoba Fujino, Ayaka Yamashita and former Hammer Risa Shimizu also made the move to Joie Stadum, however the latter suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while representing her country at the Olympic Games and will be out for the foreseeable future.
City legend Steph Houghton retired, while Ellie Roebuck, Demi Stokes and Esme Morgan departed for Barcelona, Newcastle United and Washington Spirit respectively.
Jamaica international forward Bunny Shaw will likely be key again for Taylor's side this season. The 27-year-old has been superb for City since joining in 2021, and scored 22 goals in 25 matches across all competitions last term. So far this season, she has scored three goals in three matches.
City have four points on the board in the league standings, having drawn 2-2 with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on the opening day, before dispatching Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 last weekend.
Previous Meetings...
The Joie Stadium has only been a happy hunting ground for the Hammers on one occasion. Under Oli Harder, the women's team picked up a fantastic 2-0 victory over City in 2021, with Dagný Brynjarsdóttir scoring her first goal in Claret and Blue and now-City midfielder Yui Hasegawa adding a second with a delightful chip.
It's the only time that the Irons have picked up points against City, with Taylor's side coming out on top in the other ten meetings between the two sides.
