London living, secret talents and pet peeves | Any Questions with Mel Filis

Mel Filis is next to step up to our random question challenge. Which ones will the midfielder pull out? Find out below!

Favourite holiday destination?
Turkey, my dad’s side of the family are there and it’s always good to go and see them.

Favourite cheat meal?
Some sort of chocolate dessert, I’m a big chocolate fan!

One song you know word for word?
Hall of Fame by The Script – it’s not my karaoke song, though.

If you weren’t a footballer then what would you be?
I’d definitely still be involved in football, probably like private coaching or something similar with younger players.

Most exciting women’s player in the world right now?
I’d have to say Alessia Russo. She’s moved to Arsenal and I think her stats are going to keep climbing with the players that she’s going to be playing in and around.

Your biggest pet peeve (something that annoys you)?
Probably false promises. When people say something but don’t back it up with their actions.

Biggest phobia?
It’s recently become sharks! I fell into a Tik Tok hole before going on holiday in the summer of shark videos and it’s become a bit of a phobia now.

Best thing about living in London?
Being close to my friends. I’ve been here for two years now and I’ve been able to make some really good friendships.

Most skilful player you’ve played with?
Kim Little. Not necessarily skilful as in flicks and tricks, but as in the way she is with the ball at her feet – she’s brilliant to watch.

What does the first hour of your day look like?
It depends on what sort of day it is. If we’re training, then I’m very much a get up and get out the door kind of person. If not, then I like to get another hour in bed to be honest.

Breakfast or no breakfast?
I have to have breakfast! I don’t know how people start the day without having anything. I wake up and I’m immediately hungry!

Best advice you have received?
Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not capable of achieving something.

Have you got a secret talent?
If I have then it’s such a secret that I haven’t discovered it yet. Let’s wait and see!

One item you couldn’t live without?
A football.

What’s the best thing about being a footballer?
It’s honestly the best job in the world. Even on the days where you don’t want to do something or things aren’t going well – you get to do what you love for a living.

Favourite film?
The Hunger Games series.

What skill do you wish you had or do you want to learn in the future?
Fishing. Genuinely because I think it just looks so therapeutic. I know that a lot of footballers take it up – it seems to be either that or golf!
