Loan Watch | Wins for Marshall, Kodua, Kelly and Terry

A host of Hammers were in action for their respective loan clubs over the weekend.

In the Premier League, James Ward-Prowse remained on the bench as Nottingham Forest won 3-1 at Leicester City on Friday night, and Maxwel Cornet was an unused substitute as Southampton lost 1-0 at Manchester City on Saturday.

In the EFL Championship, Freddie Potts started and played the full 90 minutes for Portsmouth in a 2-1 home defeat by Sheffield Wednesday on Friday evening. The midfielder saw Connor Ogilvie give Pompey a half-time lead, but second-half goals from Josh Windass and Michael Smith saw the Owls travel back to Yorkshire with all three points.

With Queens Park Rangers earning a draw at Burnley on Saturday, Portsmouth are now bottom of the table after 12 games.

George Earthy was introduced by Bristol City manager Liam Manning with 59 minutes played of the Robins’ goalless home draw with Leeds United. Bristol City failed to have a shot on target at Ashton Gate, but ground out a point and are now eleventh in the table with 16 points.

In EFL League One, Callum Marshall started for Huddersfield Town in a 2-0 home win over Exeter City. The Northern Ireland international striker played for 89 minutes as the Terriers scored a goal in each half to down their visitors from Devon. Matty Pearson opened the scoring on 16 minutes, before Ben Wiles made the points safe on 63. Huddersfield’s third win in their last four matches leaves them fifth in the table.

Also in League One, Gideon Kodua was introduced late on as Wycombe Wanderers continued their strong start to the season with a 3-0 home win over Leyton Orient. Kodua replaced Fred Onyedinma, who had opened the scoring for the Chairboys inside five minutes. Daniel Udoh and Cameron Humphreys added further goals either side of half-time at Adams Park as Wycombe went above Wrexham and Mansfield Town into second place.

Michael Forbes was an unused substitute for Bristol Rovers as the Gas fell to a 1-0 defeat at Reading. Rovers lost Shaq Forde to a red card on 55 minutes and conceded the only goal of the game to Sam Smith eleven minutes later.

In EFL League Two, Patrick Kelly was sent on as a late substitute to help Doncaster Rovers see out their 2-1 win at Bradford City. Goals from Luke Molyneux and Billy Sharp put Doncaster 2-0 up in their Yorkshire derby at Valley Parade, meaning Andy Cook’s 83rd-minute strike was a mere consolation for the Bantams. Levi Laing was not involved as Cheltenham Town won 1-0 at Carlisle United in the same division.

In Spain, Nayef Aguerd started Real Sociedad's 2-0 home defeat by Osasuna in La Liga. First-half goals from Lucas Torró and Ante Budimir fired the visitors to victory at the Estadio de Anoeta, leaving Sociedad 12th in the table.

In National League South, goalkeeper Mason Terry helped Hornchurch to an impressive 2-1 win over Torquay United, with Liam Nash and George Saunders getting the goals for the Urchins, who are now unbeaten in four matches and 16th in the table.

In France, Mohamadou Kanté was not involved in Ligue 2 leaders Paris FC’s 2-1 home win over Grenoble, while Krisztián Hegyi was an unused substitute as Motherwell lost 3-0 at home to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
