Seven West Ham United players were in action for their respective loan clubs at the weekend.
Midfielder James Ward-Prowse registered a win on his Nottingham Forest debut as he helped Nuno Espírito Santo’s side to a first league win at Anfield in 55 years and ended Liverpool's unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
The visitors provided the decisive strike after 72 minutes via substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi, as he climbed off the bench to net a second-half stunner. Sitting seventh in the Premier League table after the latest round of fixtures, Forest have made an impressive start to the new campaign.
Maxwel Cornet came off the bench to make his debut for Southampton following his deadline day loan in Saturday's early kick-off against Manchester United. Having survived a first-half penalty scare when Cameron Archer missed from the spot, Matthijs de Ligt headed home the opener for Erik Ten Hag's charges before Marcus Rashford doubled their advantage six minutes later.
Cornet was introduced as a substitute on 64 minutes, replacing Lesley Ugochukwu, but was unable to help spark an unlikely fightback, as Alejandro Garnacho scored with virtually the final kick of the game to secure the win for the away side.
Northern Ireland striker Callum Marshall continued his fine start to life on loan as he registered an assist for Huddersfield Town as they thrashed Bolton Wanderers 4-0 in EFL League One.
Marshall started and set up the visitors’ opening goal as his superb cross was headed home by Josh Koroma just before half-time.
Koroma then doubled his tally from the penalty spot before Bolton’s misery was confirmed when Ben Wiles curled in a left footed shot after 68 minutes. A blunder by goalkeeper Nathan Baxter allowed Antony Evans to add a fourth late on.
In Spain, Nayef Aguerd’s debut for Real Sociedad ended in a 2-0 defeat at home to Real Madrid, as Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé both scored from the penalty spot in the second half to extend the visitors’ unbeaten La Liga run to 37 matches. Aguerd was replaced after 75 minutes.
Fellow defender Kurt Zouma played 90 minutes on debut for Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah, as they registered their first point of the campaign in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Al Kholood.
Finally, goalkeepers Mason Terry and Dondre Abraham started for Hornchurch and Concord Rangers respectively.
First-half goals from Charlee Adams and Angelo Balanta helped book Hornchurch's place in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 home win over Hashtag United, while Anisius Lewis struck a stoppage-time winner as Concord earned a hard-fought win over Walthamstow in Isthmian League North.
