Goalkeeper Nathan Trott registered an incredible assist for Vejle BK in the Denmark SuperLiga as he helped his side to a 3-2 victory in their relegation six-pointer at home to Odense BK.
Trott, who continued his run of regular game time, played 90 minutes and set up substitute Dimitrios Emmanouilidis for Vejle BK’s third on the night, which ultimately sealed the points.
Max Fenger had earlier put the visitors ahead, only for Musa Juwara to level one minute later.
German Onugkha netted for the second consecutive week to give the hosts the lead on 71 minutes, while Emmanouilidis extended their advantage ten minutes later. Luca Kjerrumgaard pulled one back in stoppage time for Odense BK, but it was no more than a consolation.
The result moves Vejle out of the relegation zone by one point, ahead of a trip to Viborg next weekend.
In France, Saïd Benrahma registered another goal for Lyon as they beat Lille in a seven-goal thriller, with the visitors staging a stunning comeback from 2-0 down.
The hosts took the lead through Bafode Diakite’s towering header before Edon Zhegrova doubled their advantage.
Benrahma reduced the deficit after 65 minutes with a well-taken finish and Malick Fofana levelled with eight minutes remaining.
Lille thought they had snatched victory when Diakite put them ahead three minutes later with his second of the night, though quick-fire goals at the other end from Alexandre Lacazette and Mama Balde completed the turnaround and made it 4-3.
Thilo Kehrer played 90 minutes for Monaco, who strengthened their grip on second spot in Ligue 1 with a resounding 4-1 win over Clermont.
Former Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino broke the deadlock after he caressed a precise effort into the far corner, but Clermont equalised on 34 minutes as Muhammed Cham tapped home from close range.
Breel Embolo put Monaco back in front three minutes later, while a second-half brace from top goalscorer Wissam Ben Yedder handed Adi Hütter’s side victory.
Flynn Downes is West Ham United’s only remaining loanee in England for the 2023/24 season, and his Southampton side geared up for the EFL Championship Play-Offs in eye-catching fashion as they ended Leeds United’s hopes of automatic promotion with a 2-1 victory at Elland Road on the final day.
Saints striker Adam Armstrong opened the scoring, only for it to be cancelled out by Joël Piroe before Will Smallbone regained the lead for Russell Martin’s side, who went on to be worthy winners.
Southampton face fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion in a two-legged tie in the Play-Off semi-finals, as four sides battle it out for the prize of Premier League football.
Lastly, Krisztián Hegyi and FC Den Bosch suffered defeat on Friday at home to FC Emmen.
