Loanee Nathan Trott made his Danish Superliga debut on Sunday, although his side Vejle BK were unable to secure the points on opening day.
The goalkeeper and his Vejle teammates fell to a 1-0 defeat at Ceres Park in their first competitive outing since promotion, after Trott and the side secured the Danish First Division title in the 2022/23 campaign.
Aarhus Gymnastikforening took the lead through Danish winger Tobias Bech, who struck on 23 minutes to put his side ahead.
Thing were made more difficult for Velje on the hour mark, when Tobias Lauritsen was shown a red card.
Despite battling on, Trott and his teammates were unable to claim a share of the spoils at the weekend.
Hoping for a first win of the league season, the 24-year-old stopper is set to be back in action against FC Copenhagen on Saturday 29 July.
Goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi also made his first start for his new side Stevenage Town, playing between the sticks in a 2-1 pre-season victory against Ipswich Town.
Playing a day after signing for Stevenage, Hegyi played an hour between the sticks before he was replaced by Taye Ashby-Hammond.
Jamie Reid put Stevenage in front after just five minutes, coolly finishing on the turn after some lovely link up play with Alex Macdonald.
The lead was doubled in strange circumstances not long after half-time when Ben Thompson nodded home from close range after a wickedly deflected free-kick.
Ipswich's finish came ten minutes after Hegyi's substitution, with the Hungarian youngster largely untroubled on his maiden Stevenage outing. The Tractor Boys pulled a goal back through George Hirst's scrambled effort.
