It was a busy weekend of action for our band of loanees in the English football pyramid and beyond…
Freddie Potts played a starring role as Wycombe Wanderers romped to a 4-1 EFL League One victory at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Hammers midfielder, on a season-long loan with the Chairboys, scored one and set up another as Wycombe moved up to seventh in the league table.
Dale Taylor headed the visitors into a 20th minute lead, before Potts then took centre-stage, slotting in at the near post to make it 2-0 14 minutes later.
With 41 minutes on the clock, Potts turned provider, playing a neat reverse ball through for Taylor to notch his second of the game.
Jack Marriott pulled one back for the Cod Army on the hour, but a free-kick from Luke Leahy restored the three-goal advantage shortly afterwards.

In Denmark, there was a victory too for Nathan Trott, who started as Vejle BK secured their second SuperLiga victory of the season by seeing off Hvidovre.
Hvidovre took a 40th minute lead, but Trott’s Vejle turned the game on its head by half-time, with Saeed Ezatolahi and German Onugkha giving them the advantage.
Yani Ngbakoto sealed victory in the second half, with Trott remaining relatively untroubled in goal as Vejle recorded a vital three points.
Victory takes them to eight points from their opening eleven games, and establishes a five point gap between themselves and bottom club Hvidovre.
Back to England and Flynn Downes played the 90 minutes in Southampton’s 1-1 EFL Championship draw with Rotherham United.
The Saints were left wondering how they did not earn all three points from a dominant display which saw them hog the ball with 80 per cent possession and register 22 shots to Rotherham’s four.
They led through Stuart Armstrong’s second minute strike, but a cushioned 74th minute volley from former Hammer Jordan Hugill frustrated Russell Martin’s men.
They head into the international break tenth in the Championship table, one point outside the play-off places.
Mason Terry’s Concord Rangers suffered an FA Trophy third qualifying round defeat to Hythe Town on Saturday.
The Canvey Island-based club twice came from behind to level the tie against the Kent outfit, only for a 90th minute penalty to eliminate Terry’s side when a deciding shootout seemed likely.
Elsewhere, Krisztián Hegyi was an unused substitute in Stevenage’s 1-0 EFL League One victory against Wigan Athletic, Keenan Appiah-Forson was also on the bench in Dagenham & Redbridge’s 1-1 draw at Oldham Athletic in the National League, while Kamarai Swyer and Archie Woods were not involved for Crawley Town and Dartford respectively.
