Loan Watch: O'Hanlon marks Billericay debut with clean sheet

Katie O’Hanlon made her debut for FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division outfit Billericay Town on Sunday afternoon. 

The young goalkeeper joined Town on Thursday on dual-registration terms alongside 17-year-old midfielder, Soraya Walsh, and the duo both played a part in their 9-0 victory over Portishead Town. 

O’Hanlon started between the posts and kept a clean sheet as Billericay proved too strong for their Division One South West opponents, whilst Walsh came off the bench in the 60th minute in the demolition.

Elsewhere, Halle Houssein helped Reading to their first Barclays Women’s Championship victory of the season as they beat Durham 2-0 at The Graham Sports Centre, Durham University. 

Second half goals from Aston Villa loanee Freya Gregory and Amelia Elwood secured the victory, which see’s Reading jump to seventh in the standings. 

Houssein has played in every fixture for Reading since joining on loan on 7 September.

Katelin Talbert helped Djurgårdens IF secure their second clean sheet in successive matches on Sunday, as they hammered Kalmar 4-0 at Stockholm Olympic Stadium. 

A fast start saw Blåränderna race into a 2-0 lead, with Tilde Lindwall and Alice Bergstrõm strike inside the first six minutes. Lindwall added another before the break, before Lova Ludin completed the rout in second half stoppage time. 

Djurgårdens IF rise up to eight in the standings and will face seventh placed Rosengård on Friday in their next Damallsvenskan fixture. 

Finally, Macey Nicholls started for Hashtag United in their FA Women’s National League Cup clash with Oxford United at Parkside, Aveley on Sunday. 

Malika Apindia opened the scoring in the first five minutes of the game, before Sammy Rowland extended the advantage on 50 minutes to secure the win and see the Tags advance.

The victory continues Hashtag’s remarkable start to the new season, and they remain unbeaten in all competitions heading into their next fixture against MK Dons on Sunday 8 October.
