Six West Ham United loanees were involved for their respective clubs during this past weekend’s round of fixtures across the EFL and Europe.
Mipo Odubeko scored his first goal for Port Vale since joining the EFL League One side on loan, pulling the Valiants level against Cheltenham Town on 37 minutes with a clinical header after Dan N’Lundulu’s 24th-minute opener for the visitors in Saturday’s match.
The hosts took the lead when Cheltenham scored an own goal, with Taylor Perry putting the ball into his own net, but the points would end up shared as Charlie Brown forced the ball into the Port Vale goal on 90+4 minutes.
Arthur Masuaku retained his place in the Beşiktaş team this weekend, helping the Süper Lig to maintain their recent, superb run of form with a 3-2 win away at MKE Ankaragücü.
An end-to-end fixture saw Ankaragücü through Giorgi Beridze on 26 minutes before Beşiktaş hit back through Jackson Muleka’s finish.
A fellow loanee in Dele Alli of Everton then gave Beşiktaş the 2-1 lead at half-time with a first-time effort, but Beridze’s second of the game levelled the score just moments after the restart.
Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kévin N'Koudou netted Beşiktaş’ third from the penalty spot 16 minutes from full-time to secure the three points, although both teams would end the game with ten men after Marlon Xavier and Josef de Souza were sent off for their respective sides.
Back in the EFL, Armstrong Okoflex made his debut for Swansea City after joining the south Wales side on loan from the Hammers last week.
The versatile attacker came off the bench as a second-half substitute, helping the Swans to a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers in the EFL Championship; a result secured thanks to Joël Piroe’s cool finish in the first half, having missed a penalty earlier in the game.
Okoflex was introduced to the fray on the hour mark as Swansea claimed a second league win of the season.
Dan Chesters was also used as a substitute in this weekend’s action, coming on in the second half for Colchester United’s dramatic home draw with Hartlepool.
Chesters, playing in the same team as former Hammers Freddie Sears and Frank Nouble, was introduced on 68 minutes with the U’s trailing thanks to Wes McDonald's first-half opener for the visitors.
However, the hosts battled back to claim a very late point as debutant Beryly Lubala headed home from a searching cross to salvage a point.
In EFL League Two, Thierry Nevers started for Newport County but could not help the side avoid a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Grimsby Town.
Bryn Morris and Harry Clifton's second half goals for Grimsby stopped Newport from extending their recent home winning run to three matches.
Chances were at a premium for Newport and Nevers, with the Hammers loanee substituted off on 64 minutes.
Jacob Knightbridge completes the list of loaned Hammers in action this weekend, but the Academy goalkeeper endured a difficult afternoon after being sent off for Harrow Borough.
Knightbridge was shown a straight red card early in the second half of Saturday's FA Cup First Qualifying Round for bringing down Bracknell Town striker Darryl Sanders, after a defensive error allowed the forward into a one-on-one position.
Harrow were already two goals down at the point of the shot-stopper's dismissal and would go on to lose the game 4-1.
