Loan Watch | Mason Terry keeps fifth clean sheet in seven games for Hornchurch

As the EFL season nears its conclusion, three of West Ham United’s young loanees were involved in a busy weekend throughout the English football pyramid and abroad...

Having secured their EFL Championship status the previous weekend with victory over Watford, Freddie Potts’ Portsmouth played out a largely uneventful 1-1 draw away at Sheffield Wednesday.

While Pompey’s home form has been the cornerstone of their survival this season, the result marked back-to-back unbeaten away matches for the first time in 2024/25. Potts made his 34th start of the campaign, as Harvey Blair’s first senior goal for the club cancelled out Callum Paterson’s early opener for the Owls.

Staying in the Championship, George Earthy’s Bristol City are in action on Monday evening, travelling to face already-promoted Leeds United at Elland Road. Victory for Leeds would see them move top heading into the final round of fixtures, while Bristol City know that three points would guarantee them a Play-Off spot for the first time since 2008.

Anything less than a win could leave the Robins vulnerable to being overtaken by Coventry City, Millwall, Blackburn Rovers, and even Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough if Bristol City lose both of their remaining games.

In the National League South, goalkeeper Mason Terry kept his third consecutive clean sheet as Hornchurch recorded a third straight league win for the first time this season as the regular campaign came to an end. His fifth clean sheet in his last seven outings earned him a spot in the Vanarama National League South team of the week.

A 4-0 victory away at Chippenham Town moved the Urchins up to ninth, their highest position since being promoted to the sixth tier. Terry finishes an excellent campaign with a clean sheet tally of 17 from 53 appearances in all competitions.

Overseas, Mohammadou Kanté featured as a late substitute as Paris FC earned a 1-1 draw away at Rodez. The point edges Paris FC closer to automatic promotion, with the Parisian side now needing just one win from their final two matches to secure a return to France’s top flight for the first time since 1979.
