Eight of West Ham United’s loanees were involved in a successful weekend of action at home and abroad.
Callum Marshall and Freddie Potts both found the back of the net this weekend as eight West Ham United players experienced an undefeated weekend of action for their respective loan clubs.
Marshall was on target for Huddersfield Town as they defeated Bristol Rovers 3-1 in the EFL League One, while Potts netted for Portsmouth in a 2-1 win over QPR at Loftus Road in the Championship.
Northern Ireland international Marshall, who has made an impressive start to life on loan at the Terriers, doubled his side’s lead with a well-taken low finish from inside the box after Matthew Pearson had given the hosts an earlier advantage.
Bojan Radulović all but sealed victory on 52 minutes when he tapped home from Mickel Miller’s ball across the face of goal, before Isaac Hutchinson’s looping effort pulled back a consolation goal for Rovers midway through the second half.
Victory saw Marshall and his teammates move up to sixth position in the League One standings, inside the Play-Off places.
Potts, meanwhile, levelled for Portsmouth at Queens Park Rangers as they came from behind to secure their first Championship win of the season.
QPR had taken a ninth-minute lead through Karamoko Dembele before Potts' first-time right-foot finish into the net restored parity. Callum Lang then struck the winner on 57 minutes as Pompey held on for an opening win of the campaign in their tenth attempt, and one which took them above their opponents and off the bottom of the table.
Elsewhere, George Earthy continued his return from injury, coming off the bench for Bristol City in a 2-0 away win at Middlesbrough to earn their first away victory of the season.
Two first-half goals did the damage. Anis Mehmeti gave City the lead after 27 minutes before Yu Hirakawa added a second in added-time at the end of the first half. The Robins are now tenth, with 14 points, four outside the Play-Off places.
Back in League One, Gideon Kodua started on the bench for Wycombe Wanderers but was introduced with ten minutes remaining as his Chairboys clinched a 3-1 win over Peterborough United.
Richard Kone was the Wycombe hero, scoring a nine-minute hat-trick as Wycombe came from behind to extend their unbeaten league run to eight games.
Down a division in League Two, Patrick Kelly, who made his first league appearance in over a month, started in midfield for Doncaster Rovers as they earned a last-gasp win at Swindon Town to keep pace with leaders Port Vale.
Joseph Olowu’s far-post header gave the visitors a deserved lead, only to be cancelled out by Swindon striker Harry Smith’s close-range effort.
The game appeared to be heading for a 1-1 draw, but Joe Ironside’s 94th-minute penalty secured maximum points for Doncaster.
Levi Laing was a late first-half substitute for Cheltenham Town as Jordan Thomas scored twice to give the Robins their first League Two away win of the season.
The visitors took a fifth-minute lead when Thomas slid the ball home from two yards after Ethon Archer had whipped a cross into the six-yard box, before Colchester equalised in the 27th minute through Lyle Taylor’s fine finish.
Cheltenham restored their lead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time, two minutes after Laing’s introduction, as Thomas raced towards goal before seeing his deflected shot wrong-foot goalkeeper Matt Macey and bobbled into the net.
Mason Terry played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet for Hornchurch in National League South as they drew 0-0 with Bath City.
In Spain, Nayef Aguerd’s Real Sociedad claimed a 1-0 win at Girona on Saturday thanks to a first-half goal from captain Mikel Oyarzabal. The win moved them to 12 points in eleventh place in the La Liga table.
Kurt Zouma was not involved as Al-Orobah scored a 3-2 win at Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.
