Callum Marshall in action for Huddersfield Town

Loan Watch | League One wins for Marshall and Forbes

A busy weekend of action across Europe for West Ham United's loanees brought wins in EFL League One for Callum Marshall and Michael Forbes.

The Northern Ireland pair came off the bench for Huddersfield Town and Bristol Rovers respectively, to help their teams grab three vital points.

Huddersfield overcame ten-man Charlton Athletic at the John Smith's Stadium, taking a first-half lead through Matty Pearson, and recovering from Matty Godden's leveller to claim victory thanks to David Kasumu's 63rd-minute strike.

Marshall was introduced to the action a minute later  as the Terriers triumphed 2-1 and moved up to fifth place in the table.

Bristol Rovers are also heading in the right direction after their 1-0 win at Mansfield Town extended their unbeaten run to a third game.

Forbes made his bow in the final minute to play his part in seeing out their success, earned by Luke McCormick's 49th-minute goal.

In League Two, their fellow Northern Irishman Patrick Kelly was a starter in Doncaster Rovers' hard-fought 0-0 draw at Carlisle United.

Doncaster's third successive draw keeps them third in the standings.

There was also success in National League South for Mason Terry, who kept a clean sheet as AFC Hornchurch defeated Weymouth by a single goal, scored by Tom Wraight.

Hornchurch have only lost once in their last seven league outings to currently sit comfortably in mid-table.

Further up the pyramid, George Earthy, fresh from his England U21 debut, was in the Bristol City team from the start, but couldn't prevent the Robins from falling to a 1-0 defeat to promotion-chasing Burnley in the Championship. Jaidon Anthony scored the only goal of the game on 23 minutes.

James Ward-Prowse made his fifth Premier League start of the campaign as Nottingham Forest suffered just a third league defeat of the season.

Arsenal had too much for the Tricky Trees at Emirates Stadium, as Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and Ethan Nwaneri all notched in the Gunners' 3-0 success.

Finally, Nayef Aguerd and Real Sociedad fell to a narrow 1-0 Basque derby loss at Athletic Club in La Liga.

Oihan Sancet's first-half strike was enough to keep the Bilbao side ahead of Sociedad in the table, with both sides in the thick of the European race.
