Loan Watch | Kodua, Marshall and Kelly boost promotion hopes with midweek wins

Six of West Ham United's loanees saw midweek action for their temporary clubs at home and abroad.

Gideon Kodua made his 15th EFL League One appearance of the season as Wycombe Wanderers beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 to extend the gap between themselves and third-placed Wrexham in the fight for automatic promotion.

Their first victory with Mike Dodds in charge as head coach came courtesy of quick-fire goals just after half-time from Cameron Humphreys and Daniel Udoh. Kodua replaced new signing Fin Back at right-back as the Chairboys saw out the game to extend their unbeaten run to six.

Elsewhere in the third tier, Callum Marshall helped Huddersfield Town record back-to-back league wins for the first time since December with a 1-0 victory away at Shrewsbury Town.

Marshall - who completed 84 minutes of the contest - played as a right winger as Josh Koroma’s seventh goal of the season, ten minutes from time, moved the Terriers five points clear in the play-off race.

In League Two, Patrick Kelly featured in the closing stages of Doncaster Rovers’ 1-0 win at Morecambe, a result that saw them move back into the automatic promotion places.

Introduced in the final ten minutes for Jordan Gibson, Kelly provided fresh energy in midfield as Doncaster secured their fifth league victory in seven matches.

In the Vanarama National League, Brad Dolaghan made his second appearance for Aldershot Town in a 2-1 defeat away to Southend United.

The striker replaced Joshua Barrett with little under 20 minutes to go, just after Gus Scott-Morriss had doubled Southend’s lead. Although Cameron Hargreaves pulled one back for the Shots five minutes later, it wasn’t enough to spark a late comeback.

Also in the National League, Regan Clayton made his fourth consecutive start for Dagenham & Redbridge who fell to a 3-0 defeat at Eastleigh.

Elsewhere, in Italy's Serie A, Maxwel Cornet came off the bench to seal victory for Genoa against relegation-threatened Venezia.

With the scores level, Cornet was introduced on the right wing with 20 minutes left. After an eighth league goal of the season from Andrea Pinamonti, Cornet doubled Genoa’s lead four minutes later with an excellent run and finish to open his account for I Rossoblù.
