Loan Watch: Hegyi, Trott and Potts in action

With the new season truly up and running, West Ham United’s loanees continued to be in action across the English Football League and beyond…

Having tasted victory in his first two outings for EFL League One side Stevenage, goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi was unable to avoid his first defeat since a move to the Boro.

Taking on Reading on Saturday afternoon, Steve Evans' men were beaten by a Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan brace at Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Hegyi kept his side in the game with a superb stop on 75 minutes, although Stevenage were handed their first defeat of the league season.

As a result of the 2-0 loss, Stevenage slipped to fifth in the table, although they remain level on points with leaders Cambridge United with four games played.

Potts

Making his fourth straight league appearance for Wycombe Wanderers, it would prove to be another positive outing for midfielder Freddie Potts on Saturday afternoon.

Potts returned to the starting XI, having begun the midweek win over Leyton Orient on the bench, and was quickly back into the action.

The young Hammer went close to a goal in the second half but struck a half-chance over from the edge of the box, as neither side were able to find a winner in the 0-0 draw.

While disappointed not to have recorded consecutive league wins, having started the season with two defeats, Wycombe will be pleased to have bounced back with four points from their last two matches to sit 17th in League One.

Nathan Trott

In Denmark on Monday evening, goalkeeper Nathan Trott fell to a defeat as Vejle BK were on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline against Viborg FF, the first side West Ham United beat on their way to their UEFA Europa Conference League triumph last year.

A goalless first half saw Vejle looking to be on the way to their first point of the season at Energi Viborg Arena, although midfielder Sergio Pereira Andrade struck the game’s opening goal for the hosts six minutes after the break.

Trott and company thought they had a response on the hour but Kristian Kirkegaard’s strike was ruled out by VAR for offside.

And while a Vejle equaliser did come through the boot of German Onugkha, Viborg would take all three points thanks to Renato Junior’s goal four minutes from time.
