West Ham United’s on-loan players were involved in a busy weekend of action at home and abroad. Here is how they got on…
George Earthy was Bristol City’s matchwinner on a dramatic Friday evening at Ashton Gate, where the midfielder climbed off the substitutes’ bench and scored two goals as the Robins came from a goal down to defeat Middlesbrough 2-1 in the EFL Championship.
Former Bristol City striker Tommy Conway put Boro in front in the first half before Earthy was introduced with 27 minutes to go. He swept Liam Manning’s side level nine minutes later before completing the turnaround with eight minutes remaining. Bristol City’s win means they are eighth in the table, two points outside the Play-Off places.
Fellow midfielder Freddie Potts missed Portsmouth’s 2-1 home win over Queens Park Rangers. In his absence, Pompey scored a victory that means they are now 17th and nine points clear of the bottom three.
In EFL League One, striker Callum Marshall started as Huddersfield Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Peterborough United. The Northern Irishman and his Terriers teammates were stunned by Cyprus midfielder Hector Kyprianou’s goal in first half stoppage-time.
Defeat leaves Huddersfield fifth and inside the Play-Off spots, but with Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers all just two points behind them.
Above Huddersfield in the second automatic promotion place are Wycombe Wanderers, for whom Gideon Kodua (pictured, below) appeared as a second-half substitute in their goalless draw with Wigan Athletic at Adams Park.
In EFL League Two, Patrick Kelly was sent-off late in Doncaster Rovers’ 2-1 win at Accrington Stanley. The midfielder was shown a straight red card for a challenge a minute from time, by which point the Yorkshire side had scored through Harry Clifton and a Benn Ward own-goal.
Michael Forbes was not involved as Colchester United drew 1-1 at home with promotion-chasing AFC Wimbledon. Those results left Doncaster second in the table, eight points behind leaders Walsall, while Colchester are 12th.

In the National League, Brad Dolaghan was an unused substitute as Aldershot Town scored an added-time winner to defeat Hartlepool United 3-2, while Junior Robinson was not involved in Sutton United’s 1-1 draw with Braintree Town, nor was Regan Clayton involved in Dagenham & Redbridge’s 2-2 home draw with Oldham Athletic.
Mason Terry kept goal for AFC Hornchurch in their 2-1 win over Chesham United in National League South, where late goals from Tommy Wood and Charlie Pegrum overturned the scoreline. The result sees them leapfrog their opponents into 15th in the 24-team table, well clear of the relegation zone.
In Spain, Nayef Aguerd helped Real Sociedad to a 3-0 home win over Leganes in La Liga. Goals from Arsen Zakharyan, Takefusa Kubo and Jon Ander Olasagasti secured a victory that keeps Sociedad eighth in the table, two points behind Rayo Vallecano in the final European qualification place.
In Italy, Maxwel Cornet played the final 25 minutes as a substitute for Genoa in a 1-0 Serie A defeat at Inter Milan. The game was goalless when Cornet was introduced, but Lautaro Martínez settled matters in Inter’s favour with 12 minutes to play. Genoa sit 12th in the 18-club table.
Krisztián Hegyi was booked for conceding a penalty as Debrecen were edged out 4-3 at Paks in Hungary’s top-flight NB I.
The spot-kick was converted by Hungary international Martin Ádám to put Paks in front, before Erik Silye made it 2-0. Goals from Brandon Domingues and Maurides levelled the scores before substitute Norbert Könyves scored twice to put Paks 4-2 up. Maurides netted a late consolation, but Debrecen remain just a point above bottom club Kecskemét in the table.
In France, Mohamadou Kanté was an unused substitute for promotion-chasing Paris FC in a 1-0 home win over Troyes in Ligue 2.
Kurt Zouma and Al-Orobah play away at Damac in the Saudi Pro League on Monday afternoon.
