Eight West Ham United loanees were in action for their respective clubs over another busy weekend of football, with five on the winning side and only one tasting defeat.
Flynn Downes, Freddie Potts and Keenan Appiah-Forson were each on the right side of impressive victories for Southampton, Wycombe Wanderers and Dagenham & Redbridge respectively.
Midfielder Potts played the full 90 minutes for Wycombe in an impressive 5-2 EFL League One win over Peterborough United.
A convincing win saw the hosts take the lead when Archie Collins turned Kane Vincent-Young's effort into his own net before Wycombe captain Jack Grimmer doubled the advantage before half-time.
Kieran Sadlier added a third for the hosts, but Peterborough set up a frantic finale when David Ajiboye and Ricky-Jade Jones netted in quick succession.
But Wycombe extended their lead when Sam Vokes headed in, before David Wheeler wrapped up the impressive win in stoppage time.
Potts has now made 28 appearances in all competitions for Wycombe Wanderers this season. Fellow loanee Gideon Kodua was not involved in this weekend’s match.
Appiah-Forson also helped his loan home secure an incredible win, with Dagenham & Redbridge defeating Oxford City 7-1.
Ryan Hill, Frank Vincent and Inih Effiong put the Daggers in firm control at half-time - the latter two with stunning strikes - before Effiong scored again just a minute into the second half to put the home side four goals clear.
Jacob Roddy swiftly reduced the deficit for Oxford but Josh Rees would then steal the headlines with a second-half hat-trick, netting on 50, 67 and 82 minutes to wrap up a huge win for Dagenham in the National League.
Fellow midfielder Downes was a first-half substitute in Southampton’s comeback 5-3 win over Huddersfield Town.
The Saints were two goals behind when Downes was forced from the pitch on Saturday, with manager Russell Martin saying after the game that the club will ‘assess’ the 25-year-old’s knock.
Southampton were able to battle back to claim an astounding win. Joe Rothwell sparked the Saints' fightback with a volley and a smart finish, but Huddersfield retook the lead through Alex Matos.
But the home side hit three goals in the last ten minutes as Tom Lees netted an own-goal, and substitutes Sekou Mara and Samuel Edozie both scored, to keep Downes and his Southampton teammates in second place in the EFL Championship.
There were also victories for West Ham's two loanees in France as Thilo Kehrer and Saïd Benrahma helped secure three points for their respective sides.
Kehrer played the full 90 minutes for AS Monaco on Sunday, in a 3-2 away win against OGC Nice. A back-and-forth fixture saw Denis Zakaria give Monaco the lead but Gaëtan Laborde's penalty restored parity before half-time. Zakaria scored his second on 50 minutes and Nice would be reduced to ten men as defender Dante was shown a red card.
Still, the home side pressed though and got their leveller thanks to Evann Guessand. But Monaco would score a third to secure the three points, as Alexsandr Golovin stroked home. They sit third in the French top flight.
Benrahma, meanwhile, started for Olympique Lyonnais in a 2-1 win at Montpellier. The home side took the lead through Arnaud Nordin's goal on 23 minutes, but the visitors struck back in the second half. Alexandre Lacazette levelled on 74 minutes before midfielder Maxence Caqueret earned victory for Lyon. Benrahma played 57 minutes in the win, which moves Lyon up to 13th in Ligue 1.
Two Irons on loan from the Academy of Football helped their sides to 1-1 draws at the weekend.
Goalkeeper Mason Terry played the full 90 minutes for Concord Rangers in a 1-1 draw away to Cray Wanderers.
The young shot-stopper was called upon to keep Concord level in the fixture on multiple occasions, turning away an impressive free-kick and making another fine stop early in the second half.
Concord would grab the lead through Ricky Modeste’s header but Terry could do little to stop Cray’s equaliser from the penalty spot.
It has been an impressive few weeks for Terry, who conceded just three goals in five games across January - losing just once - to win the Uhlsport Golden Glove award for the first month of 2024.
Dan Chesters, meanwhile, was a late substitute for Salford City in their 1-1 draw away to Swindon Town in EFL League Two.
Despite playing just the final few minutes of regulation time, Chesters saw all the action as Swindon took the lead just a minute after his introduction; George McEachran turning home the opening goal.
But Salford fought back and grabbed an equaliser in the second minute of added-time through Callum Hendry.
Finally, Krisztian Hegyi featured in goal for Den Bosch in a 3-0 Eerste Divisie defeat away to Den Haag, and Callum Marshall was an unused substitute for West Bromwich Albion in their 2-2 draw away at Ipswich Town in the EFL Championship.
