While the March international fixtures saw a break for a few of the West Ham United loanees, a couple of Hammers, further down the English football pyramid, continued their respective spells away from east London…
Midfielder Keenan Appiah-Forson’s impressive run of form at Dagenham & Redbridge continued, with the 22-year-old named Player of The Match on Saturday at Chigwell Construction Stadium.
Unchanged from a 4-1 win over Maidenhead United last weekend, the Daggers battled to a 0-0 draw against Oldham Athletic, with Appiah-Forson showcasing his quality in the middle of the park throughout the 90 minutes.
Making his 22nd appearance in England’s fifth tier, Appiah-Forson looked to have won a penalty in the final moment of the game, although his protests were waved away by the referee after the midfielder was brought down inside the area.
Daggers had to settle for a point then – one that leaves the east London side 12th in the National League, having secured 13 league wins in 2023/24.
Elsewhere, FA Youth Cup-winning goalkeeper Mason Terry suffered a 2-1 defeat by Lewes in the Isthmian League Premier Division on Saturday afternoon.
Despite Terry’s teammate Harrison Day netting an early penalty, Lewes roared back to secure a narrow victory on home soil.
Goals from Chris Whelpdale and Ola Ogunwamide – on either side of the break – saw Concord slip to their 21st defeat of the 2023/24 season.
Terry and company face a quick – and potentially tough - return to action on Tuesday evening when they play away to leaders Hornchurch looking for their sixth league win of the campaign.
