West Ham United Women head back up to Merseyside for a mouth-watering Continental Tyres League Cup quarter final against Liverpool at Prenton Park on Wednesday evening.
Paul Konchesky’s Hammers are looking to book their place in the semi finals of the competition for the first time since they turning professional in 2018.
After losing to Everton three days ago, the team seek a better showing in the Northwest this time around.

If you are travelling by car, please be advised that parking is available on the ground but may be limited.
Street parking in the local residential areas around the stadium is limited due to a residents parking scheme so please be sure to check before you park. Street parking is more accessible further away from the ground if you don’t mind a 10-15 minute walk.
Rock Ferry and Birkenhead Central are the closest railway stations to Prenton Park, and are both around a 15 minute walk away. They are both served by Liverpool Lime Street.
To walk from Rock Ferry, exit the station and turn right. Walk up Bedford Road until you reach a roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout onto Bebington Road and keep going until you reach the Sportmans Pub. Turn left here on to Prenton Road and you will see the stadium approach on your left.
To walk from Birkenhead Central, exit the station and cross over the road before turning right. At the roundabout, take the right turn on to Borough Road. Continue all the way down this road, past four sets of traffic lights, and turn right on to Prenton Road where you will see the stadium approach in front of you.
Team News
Lucy Parker made her comeback from a long-term injury against Everton last time out. She could be in contention to feature again on Wednesday evening.
Jess Ziu still remains unavailable for selection. The Republic of Ireland international continues her recovery from an ACL injury sustained in the opening match of the Conti Cup – a 2-2 draw with London City Lionesses.
The Opposition
Matt Beard’s Liverpool have had the upper hand on the Hammers in matches this season.
In a pre-season clash at Loughborough University, the Reds came away 5-0 winners, whilst in December, the former West Ham Women boss steered his side to a 2-0 WSL win at Prenton Park.
There are several links between the two clubs, with forward Leanne Kiernan, Assistant Manager, Paul McHugh, General Manager, Russ Fraser and S&C Coach Colm Smith all previously working in east London.
After their fixture against Chelsea on Sunday was abandoned after only six minutes due to a frozen pitch at Kingsmeadow, Beard’s Reds have not played since they were beaten 6-0 away at Manchester United on 15 January.
American forward, Kate Stengel is their top goalscorer going into the tie, with seven goals in 13 appearances so far this season.
Liverpool have also been busy on the transfer front in January, bringing experienced defender Gemma Bonner back to the club, whilst also recruiting Japan international Fuka Nagano, Denmark midfielder Sofie Lundgaard and Miri Taylor.
Liverpool qualified for the knockout stages having finished second in Group B on 9 points, with Manchester City taking top spot with twelve.
