Following the confirmation of her arrival at West Ham United, we take a photographic journey through Kinga Szemik’s career in football so far.
Her formative years were spent in her native Poland, with TS Mitech Żywiec. While with the club, Szemik was part of the Poland U17 team that won the 2013 UEFA Women's Under-17 European Championship.
After five seasons in Poland, Szemik moved to the USA to join UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros, the collegiate athletic programme that represents the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
The goalkeeper earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology during four seasons stateside, and appeared over 50 times for the team.
Szemik then moved to FC Nantes in France, signing her first professional contract in Pays de la Loire.
In 2022, Szemik made the switch to Stade de Reims, continuing her career in Ligue 1.
She finished the 2023/24 season with the most clean sheets in the top division and impressed throughout the campaign while featuring for the Red and Whites last term.
