Kilman | We have to stick together and bounce back

Remote Stream

Maximilian Kilman is keen to ensure that West Ham United move on quickly from Sunday's defeat to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

After a hard-fought opening 30 minutes the game got away from the Hammers, with Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota all finding the net as we ended the year in disappointing fashion at London Stadium.

The result brought our four-match unbeaten league run to a shuddering halt, and Kilman, who completed the full 90 minutes in defence under the floodlights, admitted the defeat was tough to take, but is already looking forward to his side’s response in the New Year at Manchester City on Saturday 4 January.

“It hurts to be honest because losing at home in that kind of manner is unacceptable, and we need to do much better than that," said Kilman.

“It's just a tough moment. We've got to look at ourselves because we're all much better than that, and we've come off a good run of form recently against good sides.

“We must get back to the training pitch and go again because we've got big games coming up, so we have to make sure we're ready for them, put in 100 per cent and start performing good again.

“Of course, it's Liverpool, but we're also a top side, and we're playing at home, so we needed to show more of ourselves to them and perform better than that. We had to be on the front foot against them, had to dominate more and be more aggressive.

“We have to take today as a blip and make sure we bounce back from that.”
