West Ham United women’s team are delighted to confirm that Keira Flannery has signed her first professional contract with the Club.
The 18-year-old, who joined West Ham in July 2022 has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract, with an option of a further year.
The England U19 international will now spend the remainder of the 2023/24 season on loan at Barclays Women’s Championship side, Reading.
As a massive West Ham supporter, Flannery is delighted to sign her first professional contract with the Club that she loves.
“It's a dream come true to sign my first professional contract with West Ham,” she told West Ham TV.
“It’s been really good to have a year-and-a-half of First Team football at just 18 years of age. I’ve learnt so much from being around other international players and working with different coaches and that’s helping to push me to become the best that I can.
“The loan move to Reading is very important. I think it will help me to get more minutes under my belt and allow me to experience playing in a different environment.
“I’m looking forward to continuing my development at Reading across the second half of the season,” Flannery concluded.
Rehanne Skinner is delighted to see Flannery sign her first professional contract and explained why the move to Reading will benefit the young midfielder.
“We are delighted to give Keira her first professional contract.
“As a childhood West Ham fan, we know how much this means to Keira and her family.
“I have been really impressed by Keira’s attitude and work ethic since I joined the Club and her progress has been clear to see.
“It’s important to support young players in their development and the opportunity for Keira to get more minutes at Reading is imperative at this stage of her career and her long term development with us here.”
Flannery spent her formative at Arsenal before making the move to east London in July 2022 at just 16 years of age.
Since then, Flannery has made 10 first team appearances in Claret & Blue and spent the latter half of the 2022/23 season on loan at third tier side Gillingham Women.
Flannery will join fellow Hammers Halle Houssein and Jessie Stapleton at the Select Car Leasing Stadium as Liam Gilbert’s team look to move up the Championship table.
Everyone at West Ham United would like to congratulate Keira on her new contract and wish her every success for the remainder of the season.
