Ben Johnson helped England U21s continue their perfect start to their UEFA U21 European Championship campaign with a 2-0 win against Germany.
The Young Lions had already secured progression to the knockout stages in Georgia and Romania with 2-0 victories over Czechia and Israel in their opening two fixtures of Group C, and continued that momentum against Germany.
The 23-year-old started against the Germans, and saw his side take the lead with the game only four minutes old when Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer ran on to a superb pass from club team-mate Jacob Ramsey and curled the ball into the bottom corner.
Ramsey went close to a second before Liverpool's Harvey Elliot doubled the lead with an excellent solo goal in the 21st minute. The midfield skipped past his man before driving towards the area and drilling an excellent strike into the bottom corner.
Johnson was replaced after 59 minutes at the Adjarabet Arena and now has nine U21 caps for his country having also started against Israel and was a late substitute as England defeated Czechia.
England advance to the quarter-finals as Group C winners and will take on Group A runners-up Portugal in their last-eight tie, to be played in Kutaisi, Georgia, on Sunday.
