West Ham United women’s team are delighted to confirm that Jess Ziu has penned a new long-term deal with the Club.
In doing so, the Republic of Ireland international becomes the fourth player to extend her stay with the Hammers ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season, after Dagný Brynjarsdóttir, Viviane Asseyi and Kirsty Smith.
Ziu, 22, is set to enter her third campaign in Claret and Blue, having established herself in manager Rehanne Skinner’s side during 2023/24 following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that sidelined her for the majority of her debut season in east London.
Since signing for West Ham in the summer of 2022, Ziu has made 23 appearances for the Club. For her country, she made her debut at the age of 16 and currently has 12 caps.
“It feels amazing to have extended my contract at West Ham United,” the midfielder told West Ham TV.
“I love being here. From the moment I walked through the gates at Chadwell Heath, I knew this was where I wanted to be.
“Because of the knee injury that I sustained in my first year at the Club, it feels like I’m only just getting started in a West Ham shirt. But I’m more determined than ever before and I’m looking forward to coming back for pre-season and working hard to show what I can do in the seasons to come.”
Skinner expressed her pleasure at Ziu putting pen-to-paper on a new deal.
“I am delighted that we have extended Jess’ contract,” Skinner said.
“Jess is an exciting player who adds energy and technical qualities to our play, in and out of possession.
“In the second half of last season, everyone started to get a glimpse of Jess’ capabilities following a long-term injury. I am looking forward to seeing her continue to progress in a West Ham shirt over the coming years.”
