Internationals | Tysiak and Belgium beat England while Ademiluyi nets four

An emphatic first-half performance from Amber Tysiak and Belgium helped them stun England with a 3-2 victory in Group A3 of the UEFA Women's Nations League.

Recording their first win of their campaign, Belgium boasted a three-goal lead on half-an-hour thanks to a brace from Tessa Wullaert and a Justine Vanhaevermaet goal.

England showed their threat, however, and pushed Belgium all the way after Beth Mead and substitute Michelle Agyemang pulled back two goals, but Tysiak, playing all 90 minutes, and her side held firm to get off the mark in the competition.

Meanwhile, defender Eva Nyström helped her Finland team keep another clean sheet in Group B3 as they put three unanswered goals past Hungary to maintain their second-place position in the standings.

Playing all of the contest in Tampere, Finland, Nyström saw her team take a firm grip on the tie, going into half-time two ahead thanks to Emma Koivisto and Linda Sällström goals, before Sanni Franssi put the game beyond Hungary two minutes from time.

Fellow Hammer Oona Siren started on the bench on Tuesday, but earned another appearance for her country as she was introduced to proceedings on 74 minutes.

It was also a winning night for Jessie Stapleton and the Republic of Ireland, who secured a 2-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Greece to record their third success of their Group B2 endeavours.

Stapleton played all 90 minutes of the game in Dublin as her side cruised to a two-goal advantage courtesy of Amber Barrett and Anna Patten efforts. Veatriki Sarri made matters interesting in the 72nd minute, but the home side secured the three points to sit second in the standings.

Meanwhile, Iceland’s Dagný Brynjarsdóttir and Switzerland’s Seraina Piubel were both used substitutes as their sides shared the spoils following a six-goal thriller at Thróttarvöllur in Reykjavik.

The visitors, bottom in Group A2, thought they were going to head into the break with a two-goal advantage but Karólína Vilhjálmsdóttir reduced the arrears in first-half stoppage time after Brynjarsdóttir replaced Berglind Ágústsdóttir on 36 minutes.

Despite Switzerland restoring their lead thanks to an Iceland own-goal less than a minute after the restart, Vilhjálmsdóttir netted twice in the second period to bag a hat-trick for third-placed Iceland. Piubel entered the fray on the hour mark for Switzerland.

Elsewhere, in Group B1, Kinga Szemik was rested as she was an unused substitute for leaders Poland in their 1-1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica, in which Weronika Zawistowska scored a 91st-minute equaliser for the visitors, while Kirsty Smith was sent on as a 65th-minute substitute for Scotland in their 6-1 Group A1 loss at top-of-the-table Germany in Wolfsburg.

Scotland remain in search of their first points of the competition while, also in Group A1, Verena Hanshaw played all of Austria’s 3-1 loss to the Netherlands, who came from behind to secure three points at Cashpoint-Arena in Altach, leaving the home side third in the standings.

Away from Nations League action, Princess Ademiluyi bagged a stunning four goals for England U19s as the Young Lionesses notched double figures to convincingly defeat Ukraine U19s by a staggering 10-0 scoreline at St George’s Park.

The forward scored a 13-minute hat-trick in the UEFA Women's U19 Euro second qualifying round clash between the 33rd and 46th minutes, before adding her fourth of the afternoon just shy of the hour mark.

Lauren Smith’s England U19s, who secured their place at this summer’s U19 Euros in Poland earlier this international break, rounded off their Group C campaign in scintillating fashion to make it three wins from three games.
