West Ham United’s Kaelan Casey, George Earthy and Ollie Scarles have all been selected for international duty by England Elite Squad lead coach Ben Futcher ahead of the upcoming March clashes.
Casey earns his third call-up of the season, having featured in all but one of England’s six U20 Euro Elite League fixtures, a campaign that has seen the Young Lions go unbeaten and top the standings.
For Earthy, currently on loan at EFL Championship side Bristol City, it is also his third Young Lions call-up. He previously featured in summer friendlies against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland, as well as England’s Elite League victory over defending champions Italy in October. The midfielder was also handed his first U21s call-up in the previous international window, working once again under Ben Futcher, who stepped in as interim head coach in Lee Carsley’s absence.
Having not featured on the international stage in a 2023/24 season affected by injury, Scarles makes a deserved return to the Young Lions set-up, stepping up an age group to join the U20s. The 19-year-old is no stranger to playing beyond his years, having consistently featured in older age groups since making his England debut at U15 level shortly after turning 14. He has since done the same at U16s, U17s and U18s level, not to mention his Premier League experience in recent months. Scarles has featured in the top flight on ten occasions so far this term, and has started the last three games, including the wins over Arsenal and Leicester City last month.

The 2023 FA Youth Cup-winning trio are part of a 22-man squad that will travel to Iberia next week for two fixtures. England first face Portugal in the Euro Elite League on Friday 21 March at the Municipal Stadium in Leiria, before crossing the border into Spain to take on Switzerland in an international friendly on Monday 24 March at the Marbella Football Centre.
