West Ham United women’s team defender Anouk Denton recorded another 90 minutes for England U23s tonight, as she helped the Young Lionesses keep a clean sheet against Norway U23s in the WU23 European competition.
Taking to battle at Fredrikstad Stadion in Norway, Denton’s side were held to a goalless draw, maintaining their one-point lead at the top of the Group B standings.
Denton was relentless all evening up and down the left flank as the Young Lionesses enjoyed the better of the opportunities.
Less than ten minutes into the game, Katie Robinson was denied after positive work by Mia Enderby, before Lucia Kendall went close with a deflected effort in the second half. Then, Isobel Goodwin, who Denton faced in the Hammers’ victory over London City Lionesses on Sunday, flashed a shot across goal that narrowly skewed wide of the post.
Denton will be back in action with Emma Coates’ side when the Young Lionesses host Sweden U23s at Doncaster Rovers’ Eco-Power Stadium on Monday night (7pm GMT).
