Jarrod Bowen

Internationals | Bowen named in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad

Jarrod Bowen has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s first squad as England manager, for two important 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.

Former Chelsea boss Tuchel officially took over the Three Lions reins from Gareth Southgate at the start of 2025, and will lead the team for the first time later this month.

Having been sat in the stands at London Stadium during West Ham United’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Monday night, he has chosen Bowen as part of his 23-man set-up, ahead of training at St George’s Park next week.

England were drawn into UEFA Group K for World Cup qualifying back in December 2024, and will get their campaign underway against Albania at Wembley at 7.45pm GMT on Friday 21 March, before hosting Latvia at the same venue at 7.45pm GMT on Monday 24 March. Serbia and Andorra are the two other teams that make up the group.

Hammers captain Bowen will be looking to add to his record of one goal in 14 games for his country across the two fixtures, and help inspire a strong start to a qualifying campaign in which England will be looking to secure a spot at next year’s finals in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Indeed, the 28-year-old - who has scored eight goals in 26 appearances in all competitions for West Ham this season - will be hoping to build on his last display for England, when he scored his first goal on the international stage in a convincing 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League in November.
