Risa Shimizu scored for Japan in their 2-0 victory over Vietnam in their third and final Olympic qualifier of the international break.
Shimizu was the only Hammer to feature in the victory at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Tashket, Uzbekistan, as Honoka Hayashi and Riko Ueki were unused substitutes on Wednesday.
Nadeshiko dominated from start to finish against Vietnam and opened the scoring with five minutes remaining in the first half.
Shimizu found the net to slot in her fourth goal for her country, before Miyabi Moriya put the game beyond doubt after the break.
The victory means that Japan advance into the third qualifying round, which takes place in February 2024.
Elsewhere, Australia booked their place in the third qualifying round after comfortably beating Chinese Taipei 3-0 at HBF Park in Perth.
Hammers skipper Mackenzie Arnold started between the posts for the first 45 minutes, before she was replaced by Lydia Williams at the break.
Having struggled to find the breakthrough, the Matildas hit three goals in 15 minutes, with Mary Fowler, Sam Kerr and former Hammer Tameka Yallop all on the scoresheet between the 62nd and 77th minute.
Australia's next international action comes in December against Canada, with two friendly matches in British Columbia.
With the international break concluding, attention turns back to Barclays Women's Super League action!
