Highlights: Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 West Ham United

A challenging end to the pre-season schedule saw West Ham United defeated 4-0 by Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

A first-half flurry of goals by the German side put them in control at the BayArena. Jonas Hoffman's free-kick found the net via the post early on, before his cross - intended for striker Victor Boniface - was cruelly turned across the line by Hammers defender Thilo Kehrer.

Czech Republic international Tomáš Souček came close to halving the deficit when he whacked the crossbar with a powerful header, but Leverkusen had a third before half-time through Boniface’s powerful finish on the half-volley.

Saïd Benrahma almost grabbed a goal back early in the second half when a quick-fire double effort saw the first saved and second strike the post, but Leverkusen got a fourth as Robert Andrich tucked home a penalty kick on 70 minutes.
