Hegyi joins Debreceni VSC on loan

West Ham United can confirm that young goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi has joined Hungarian club Debreceni VSC on loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The Hungary U21 international spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, where he started in two of their victories in the Scottish League Cup against Edinburgh City and Clyde in a run that saw them reach the semi-finals.

Returning to his homeland for the second half of the campaign, the 22-year-old joins one of Hungary's most successful clubs. Since 2000, DVSC have claimed seven Hungarian First Division titles, second only to Ferencváros with nine. However, the club now faces a different challenge, fighting to retain their top-flight status.

Budapest-born shot stopper Hegyi could make his debut on 2 February when DVSC host Nyíregyháza after Hungary’s winter break.

Everyone at West Ham United wishes Krisztián every success during his time at Debreceni VSC.
