Japanese Trio

Hayashi, Shimizu and Ueki named in Japan's Olympic squad

West Ham United women's team trio Honoka Hayashi, Risa Shimizu and Riko Ueki have all been named in Japan's 18-player squad for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

Japan will face Spain, Nigeria and Brazil in Group C in the competition, and manager Futoshi Ikeda will be hoping that his team can advance into the knockout stages. They were runners up at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London, losing to the United States of America 2-1 at Wembley.

All three players were involved for Nadeshiko in their two warm-up matches against New Zealand in late May and early June. They have one more match to play before their tournament kicks off on 25 July against Spain - as they host Ghana in the MS&AD Cup on Saturday 13 July.

Shimizu heads to the games as her country's fourth most-experienced player in the squad, having earned 76 senior caps. Ueki and Hayashi have played for their nation 33 and 31 times respectively.
