Halle Houssein joins Reading on season-long loan

West Ham United women’s team can confirm that Halle Houssein has joined Reading on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

The promising 18-year-old will join the Royals, who are looking to return to the Barclays Women’s Super League at the first time of asking having been relegated to the Barclays Women’s Championship last season.

Indeed, Reading's 2023/24 campaign is already underway, with new boss Liam Gilbert earning his two points from this first two matches with draws against Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic respectively.

Houssein initially joined the Club from Arsenal on dual-registration in January 2022, before making the move permanent in June of the same year.

A lifelong West Ham fan, Houssein would score on her West Ham United debut, a 4-2 defeat to Chelsea in the Continental Tyres League Cup and has since gone on to make eleven first-team appearances.

The midfielder spent the latter part of the 2022/23 season with Gillingham Women (now Chatham Town Women) alongside fellow youngster Keira Flannery.

Houssein recently signed her first pro contract with West Ham, a three-year deal in east London, and the loan to the Berkshire based outfit will allow her to continue with her development whilst getting valuable first-team minutes.

Everyone at West Ham United would like to wish Halle well with her loan move to Reading.
