West Ham United fell to a 3-1 Premier League defeat at the hands of Leicester City at King Power Stadium.
Former England striker Jamie Vardy coolly slotted home one-on-one to put the hosts in front in the second minute, and after a lengthy VAR check - following an initial offside decision - the goal was given by referee Josh Smith.
Jarrod Bowen forced multiple good saves from Foxes stopper Mads Hermansen before the end of the first half, while Tomáš Souček and Carlos Soler went close, and Danny Ings hit the post.
The Hammers continued where they left off after the interval, with Souček and Mohammed Kudus among those spearheading a period of sustained pressure, however it was Leicester who doubled their lead against the run of play just after the hour, Bilal El Khannouss making it 2-0.
Ruud van Nistelrooy's charges thought they had another when Bobby De Cordova-Reid prodded in from close range with nine minutes left, but another VAR check this time ruled in West Ham's favour, and the strike was disallowed.
There was still time for late drama, however, with substitute Patson Daka putting gloss on the scoreline with a third for Leicester in the 90th minute, before Niclas Füllkrug notched a consolation for the Irons - his first in Claret and Blue in his first appearance since August.
