West Ham United can confirm that Flynn Downes has joined EFL Championship side Southampton on a season-long loan.
Downes, who joined the Hammers from Swansea City in 2022, made 35 appearances in all competitions in his maiden campaign for his boyhood side, including 21 in the Premier League, and was part of the squad which won the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The 24-year-old will now spend the 2023/24 season with the Saints, linking up with manager Russell Martin, having worked under the Scot at the Swans in 2021/22.
Southampton are looking to bounce back and return to the Premier League at the first time of asking after relegation from the English top flight last season. A win and a draw have put Martin’s side on four points from two league matches played so far.
Everyone at West Ham United wishes Flynn every success in his loan spell with Southampton.
