Kurt Zouma any questions

Favourite cartoons, career advice & bucket hats | Any Questions with Kurt Zouma

Captain Kurt Zouma is next up for the random question challenge!

Who is your favourite cartoon character?

"There are so many to choose from. But I really like SpongeBob SquarePants. I like him so, so much. He’s very funny!

"I watched SpongeBob a lot when I was a kid, and I watched a lot of Dora The Explorer too. My children watch them too, and I like watching with them."

Who had had the biggest impact on your career?

"I would say my wife. She has definitely had the biggest impact on my career, because she has been with me since I was 16 or 17 years old. We met at a birthday party for one of my cousins. Since then, we’ve shared a life together.

"We came to England together and we built our life here together. She’s always been there for me and been helping me, whether it’s been through wins or losses, injuries or tough times. She’s always looked after me."

How old were you when your football journey began?

"I went to school and then I went straight into football. I was in an academy from 12 years-old, and then I went professional at 17. That was when I played my first game for Saint-Étienne.

"I was only 19 when I moved to Chelsea, which is mad to think about now. I was very excited though. For me, coming over to play in the Premier League was a dream."

You can only shop at one clothing brand from now on – which one do you choose?

"That’s a tough one. If pushed, I’ll say Off-White. That’s the brand I think I’m wearing most at the minute and I really like their clothes. They have some really good, large tops, and I’m really into them right now."

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

"I’ve received so much good advice in my career, from my parents, from my brothers and from coaches. I would say the best advice is: ‘Don’t forget where you come from and always enjoy what you have.’ I think that’s good advice to live by."

Bucket hat or baseball cap?

"I will go for baseball cap. The bucket hat can get too hot and, if you’ve got a big head like me, it can get too tight! I had one of the bucket hats on during the UEFA Europa Conference League winners’ parade but I threw in into the crowd about 30 seconds in."

What kind of music do you listen to when driving to training?

"I listen to a bit of everything; USA rap, French rap, R’n’B, and a bit of everything. I also like listening to African piano. I think I like all sorts of music.

"I heard Vladimìr Coufal say I control the music in the changing room but it isn’t me! Sometimes the kitman Jamo will choose the music, and Maxwel Cornet likes to put on music from the Ivory Coast too."

How many languages can you speak?

"French and English. That’s it. So two! I would really like to know Arabic though. If I could click my fingers and just know a language, it would be Arabic. I’m trying to learn but it takes time."

What is your current background on your mobile phone?

"It is my family. It will always be my family. Family will always come first."

What is the best stadium you have ever played at?

"I really like London Stadium. It’s so nice and it’s a beautiful, big stadium, When the fans get right behind us too, singing, it’s perfect. It’s right at the top of the list for me.

"Stade de France is also special. I’ve played there for the French national team and that’s always an amazing place to play. The other stadium that impressed me was Johan Cruyff Arena - Ajax's stadium in Amsterdam. I played there in the Champions League a few years ago and it was really nice. I would say those are my top three."
