So, here we are. After another season full of thrills and spills, West Ham United are set to contest their final Premier League game of the campaign against Manchester City on Sunday.
The Hammers came from behind to earn a memorable Premier League win against Luton Town last time out, with second-half goals from James Ward-Prowse, Tomáš Souček and George Earthy completing a second-half comeback to give manager David Moyes a fitting send-off at London Stadium.
Results elsewhere on Wednesday night confirmed the Irons will finish in ninth place in the final table, which saw Moyes equal the best four-season run in the Club's history, and he will be aiming to record a historic first-ever victory as a manager at the Etihad Stadium.
However, the odds will be against the Londoners ending a run of seven straight defeats at the Etihad and earning a first win there since September 2015, with City needing victory to secure the top spot in the Premier League table and lift the trophy for the fourth season in a row.
The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 38 deadline is set for 2.30pm on Sunday 19 May, ahead of a mouth-watering final day of Premier League football highlighted by Sunday afternoon's clash in the north West.
While we will be giving you FPL tips and tricks throughout the remainder of the 2023/24 season on whufc.com, see below for some of our picks for the upcoming round…
For the next fixture, all eyes are on Jarrod Bowen.
Bowen aims to be a record-breaker!
He might be without a Premier League goal in two games, but there will be no one looking to score more than Jarrod Bowen (7.8m) on Sunday.
The 27-year-old, who was crowned Hammer of the Year for 2023/24 last weekend, has endured a goal-laden campaign which has seen him etch his name into the West Ham history books.
Bowen recently become the first Irons player to break the 20-goal barrier since Marlon Harewood 19 years ago, and equal Paolo Di Canio’s tally of 16 in a single Premier League season, but he will be desperate to better that this weekend.
Furthermore, Bowen has accumulated an outrageous 182 FPL points this season, more than any other West Ham player by a considerable margin and, after a 13-point haul against Liverpool at the end of April, he will be looking to end a memorable campaign on a personal positive note.
Alphonse Areola (4.2m) will know what to expect this weekend – plenty of shots - and most likely a lot of saves required as well.
As aforementioned, City must win against the Hammers at Etihad Stadium to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title, so there is no doubt Pep Guardiola's charges will be up for it.
But the Frenchman is a proven performer on the big stage, with big performances in wins over Chelsea and Arsenal earlier in the campaign, and it’s likely we will need another stellar performance between the sticks from our No.1 on Sunday.
Opposition watch: Manchester City
Forward Erling Haaland (14.2m) comes with a hefty price tag – but he has been worth every penny for both Manchester City and FPL managers.
The 23-year-old has scored 27 of City’s 93 Premier League goals this season and is well on course to collecting his second consecutive top-flight Golden Boot.
Other forward options include Phil Foden (8.5m), who continues to excel under Guardiola and prove why he is one of England’s top footballing prospects. Foden has been one of City’s chief architects with 25 goals from midfield this season and 11 assists, helping his side to a division-best haul of 93 goals. He has also collected 215 points this term for FPL managers.
Lastly, Josko Gvardiol (5.1m) is understandably one of the most sought after players in FPL after an impressive recent haul of goals from defence.
Gvardiol managed to emulate Ben White’s efforts from a few weeks ago by scoring twice and keeping two clean sheets in a double gameweek to claim 27 points, and since Gameweek 33, Gvardiol has collected a total of 66 points, which includes individual scores of 12, 15 and 21 points.
