Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 36 Preview

There is not long to go now as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) hits its final few matchdays!

Gameweek 36 sees a deadline of 11am on Saturday 13 May, so which Hammer should you be looking to add to your team for Sunday’s trip to Brentford?

Super Fab!

There is no doubt that Łukasz Fabiański has been a key part of West Ham’s upturn in form since the turn of the year.

The former Poland international has been a regular between the sticks in the Premier League, with teammate Alphonse Areola deployed as the goalkeeper for European fixtures.

Last time out, Fabiański recorded his eighth clean sheet of the league season thanks to an excellent showing against Manchester United. Neat saves to deny both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford saw the No1 persevere Saïd Benrahma’s winner and also record eight FPL points, taking his season total to 121 – a figure that means he is well on his way to surpassing last year’s total of 136.

He has already recorded clean sheets against Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, AFC Bournemouth, Everton, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Fulham and Manchester United, while a penalty save against Leicester City last November saw the No1 record his best Gameweek total of nine points.

The eighth-highest performing goalkeeper in FPL this season saw his best career haul come in 2017/18 when he recorded 157 points, and the former Poland stopper will hope to push past the 150 mark once more with fixtures against Brentford, Leeds United and Leicester City set to conclude 2022/23.

Opposition One to Watch: Ivan Toney

It has been an impressive season for Brentford’s No9.

Having recorded 12 goals last year, Ivan Toney has already gone a few steps further when he scored his 20th goal of the Premier League season against Nottingham Forest last month.

Ivan Toney against West Ham United

As it stands, only two strikers - Erling Haaland and Harry Kane - have recorded more FPL points in 2022/23 than Toney, who sits on 182 points as David Moyes’ men head to west London.

Priced at just £7.3m, Toney has been one of the key differentials this season, although his form has seen his ownership rise over the last few weeks to nearly 30 per cent.

Tough fixtures are set for Brentford, who concluded 2022/23 against West Ham, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, however, you would not put it past Toney to reach the 200-point mark come the end of May.

He also scored Brentford's first in the Bees' 2-0 win at London Stadium in December taking his career total against West Ham to two goals in three matches.

Other notable FPL assets at Brentford include David Raya (£4.9m), with 149 points, and also Ben See (£4.9m), with 124 points.
